An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction. We can cover your overdrafts. We have standard overdraft practices that come with your account. Contact us to learn more about our Standard Overdraft Privilege Service, which covers checks, ACH items, etc. up to a $700 overdraft limit: ODP.
You may also request our Extended Overdraft Privilege Service to cover your ATM and everyday debit card transactions within the $700 overdraft limit. Learn more about our Extended Overdraft Privilege Program: Extended Coverage.
Should you wish to decline participation in the program, in its entirety, please complete and return the following: Decline-Remove ODP.
Additional resources and information are available to you, as well. And, of course, we encourage you to contact us with questions and we will be happy to assist.
The Farmers Bank believes financial education and heightened awareness of personal financial responsibilities help consumers make informed decisions and realize the benefits of responsible money management.
If you have been paying multiple overdraft fees, there may be cheaper alternatives which are better suited for your financial needs. The easiest way to manage and protect your account from undesirable overdraft fees is to monitor your account activity carefully. We recommend following these simple steps:
- Use your check register and record all of your transactions immediately, including electronic and automatic payments and don’t forget to subtract fees and other charges. Never assume the transactions will take days to post to your account.
- Review your account statement and all activity posted to your account. Remember, some checks and payments may not have posted yet. Balance your account using the simple instructions on the back of your monthly statement.
- Check your balance at the ATM before you make a withdrawal. If the available balance in your account is less than you think it should be, you may want to withdraw a smaller amount to be sure that your other transactions are paid.
- You can contact our telephone banking system at (888) 643-9090 to receive balance information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can also call our bookkeeping department at (615) 325-2265 during normal business hours.
- If you have previously opted in to our Overdraft Privilege Service on your debit card transactions, you can decide to opt out of this service. If you opt out, we may decline your ATM withdrawals and debit card transactions at POS terminals if you do not have enough money in your account to cover the transaction.
- If you have another account at our institution, you can transfer funds by using our Online Banking or Mobile Banking app and move funds into your checking account.
- Sign up for Online Banking. You can set up email alerts to warn you when your account goes below a limit that you choose.
For questions concerning any of these suggestions, please contact our ODP Coordinator at (615) 323-1122. You may also call a customer service representative at (615) 325-2265 or visit us at your local branch.
